Project Name: Maths4families
Resource Description: This resource helps parents and carers take a more active role in their children’s maths learning at school by providing ideas and activities to do at home. The home is a great place for children to learn more about maths and although how they learn now might be different, by adopting a practical, problem-solving based approach, parents can provide a firm foundation for their children’s maths learning at school. The Maths4Families pack includes games and rhymes to develop the language of maths – number recognition, basic calculation, sequencing and estimation – for children in their early years. The relevance of each activity is explained, alongside the particular skills the children will be learning. Also included are suggested questions to help children develop math skills and vocabulary.
